The only talks with terrorists should be that this will be our last communication. Disban or die.

For many years we have had a policy of not giving terrorists an inch. Obama has just thrown that heritage out the door. I'm sorry but it is not acceptable. Combine this with everything else he's doing and I can see how the constitution will hang b...

I disagree. It's best to know your enenimes. Jesus talked with many enemies and made no compromises.

The reference to America as the Great Satan is often misunderstood by our people. The term Satan means literally "destroyer" and one could argue that America has not always caused the most righteous outcomes in the countries in which it has meddle...

The Bible says to forgive until "seventy times seven" (a reference to the 490 years that had passed since the prophecy predicting the year of the arrival of the Messiah, and repeated in the day that the people did not recognize His visitation amon...

I agree. I am praying he'll be wise. But from what I've seen, if you're willing--or forced--to talk with terrorists, it's always includes them demanding something, which means compromise. That's the whole point of terrorism: to force others to see...

I agree compromise with terrorists would "compromise" our security. I'm not sure talking is wrong, but I would certainly hope it wouldn't inevitably lead to compromise. We can pray our president finds wisdom appropriate to the challenge.

Spotlight on "Forged in the Refiner's Fire" by Candace E. Salima

Why do bad things happen? Is there a purpose when we face a bad trial? As mortals, we can be compared to ore, such as gold and silver. Ore that is unrefined is generally impure and undesirable. Only ore that is crushed -- and then refined by fire -- becomes beautiful, pure, precious and valuable. This book was written to help you see the results of the Ultimate Refiner, the Lord, in your own life.

Within these pages, people from all walks of life share their stories of triumph over tragedy. More importantly, they reveal how they were strengthened as they passed through the Refiner's fire. They became more precious, and so can you. Look for the experiences of vocalist Merrill Osmond, LDS writers Shirley Bahlmann, Elizabeth Cheever, Willard Boyd Gardner, Tristi Pinkston, and Candace E. Salima, renowned columnist Muriel Sluyter and several people across the nation who are ranchers, housewives, writers in the national market and more.

Candace E. Salima partnered with Elizabeth Cheever to co-author this book. They feel very privileged to have been the ones to bring this story to the world.
