Lori Nawyn's Page

Growing up, no one told me it was okay to be happy—my world was mired in grief and tragedy. One of the greatest blessings in my life was the discovery that happiness is a choice, and that I have a right to chose to make lemonade out of lemons. Fighting to escape the shadows of emotional and physical abuse I’m learning to find my voice as I blog about my life and my dreams of writing books that will uplift and inspire.

Lori,

Thanks for adding me as a friend! I'm glad you did. I read your introduction at the top of the pate. Thanks for being the inspiration you are. I can understand where you are coming from, more than I can say here. Thank goodness for the gospel of Jesus Christ and the healing power of the atonement. Thank goodness for the Holy Ghost which helps us understand that happiness is a choice and strengthens us to move forward with a brightness of hope and let the past go. I'm really glad we met at LDS Storymakers. Thanks again for being my friend!

Your art and photography is so unique and beautiful. Such talent, you should surely get discovered. Do you currently sell you work? I have a daughter in Young Women, she is at that roll your eyes age and sweet 16 at the same time. I would like to get my hands on some of your work her.

Oh and if you take a look at it on the IOGear website and decide to buy it.... go to the place where it asks for your zip code to show local stores in your area. There aren't any so it gives you the websites that are selling the product. New Egg? I think is the name has the product for around $65.00 and Amazon has it for around $75

Hey, Kenya showed me a Mobile Digital Scribe from IOGEAR. It is a pen that writes with regualer ink on any regular paper. You clip a small device that looks kind of like a small pedometer to the page and it records what you are writing and than translates that onto your computer first as your written text and then as a word doc. It doesn't work with a Mac yet but she loves it. She can write up to 199 pages at any one time. I couldn't believe it, but I saw it with my own eyes. Janie

Hi Lori. I went through the entire list of names on this site looking for anybody I might know and voile! You were the winner! What are you working on right now? Lyn just came home from Morocco where her husband is working. She came home alone because she is very ill. Her brother has terminal cancer. Things aren't going too well for the Westergards. Love ya, Janie

Spotlight on "Forged in the Refiner's Fire" by Candace E. Salima

Why do bad things happen? Is there a purpose when we face a bad trial? As mortals, we can be compared to ore, such as gold and silver. Ore that is unrefined is generally impure and undesirable. Only ore that is crushed -- and then refined by fire -- becomes beautiful, pure, precious and valuable. This book was written to help you see the results of the Ultimate Refiner, the Lord, in your own life.

Within these pages, people from all walks of life share their stories of triumph over tragedy. More importantly, they reveal how they were strengthened as they passed through the Refiner's fire. They became more precious, and so can you. Look for the experiences of vocalist Merrill Osmond, LDS writers Shirley Bahlmann, Elizabeth Cheever, Willard Boyd Gardner, Tristi Pinkston, and Candace E. Salima, renowned columnist Muriel Sluyter and several people across the nation who are ranchers, housewives, writers in the national market and more.

Candace E. Salima partnered with Elizabeth Cheever to co-author this book. They feel very privileged to have been the ones to bring this story to the world.
