The Color of the Sunset

The Color of the Sunset

I stand in the sand, soft and moist,
Feeling the breeze in my hair.
Then coral and blue in the sky above
Flash these words to me:

You don’t have to do to feel the joy.
You don’t have to fear you aren’t good enough.
You don’t have to smile to cover the pain.
You only need to be.

You don’t have to do the mothering right.
You don’t have to be so good.
You don’t have to please everyone in sight.
You only need to be.

You don’t have to do to enjoy me.
You don’t have to get… Continue

Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, I write songs as well. The title track, One More Stone is an original, and I co-arranged many of the songs on the CD. Come have a listen any time.

Hi Linda,

Football players are a regular thing in my family. My husband, although not a starter, was on BYU's 1984 National Championship Football Team, and we've had huge numbers of nephews play for the Cougars over the years. So when my publisher wanted a book written about the 1984 team, I guess he thought it was a natural conclusion that I be the one to write. It turned out to be a total and complete blast.

What positions did your boys play?

Hi,

Yes, I am blessed to be able to do what I love. The angel book is a Christmas gift booklet for all ages, I did the illustrations. There are also greeting cards based on the three angels. What is the title of your picture book? I would love to see it!

Spotlight on "Forged in the Refiner's Fire" by Candace E. Salima

Why do bad things happen? Is there a purpose when we face a bad trial? As mortals, we can be compared to ore, such as gold and silver. Ore that is unrefined is generally impure and undesirable. Only ore that is crushed -- and then refined by fire -- becomes beautiful, pure, precious and valuable. This book was written to help you see the results of the Ultimate Refiner, the Lord, in your own life.

Within these pages, people from all walks of life share their stories of triumph over tragedy. More importantly, they reveal how they were strengthened as they passed through the Refiner's fire. They became more precious, and so can you. Look for the experiences of vocalist Merrill Osmond, LDS writers Shirley Bahlmann, Elizabeth Cheever, Willard Boyd Gardner, Tristi Pinkston, and Candace E. Salima, renowned columnist Muriel Sluyter and several people across the nation who are ranchers, housewives, writers in the national market and more.

Candace E. Salima partnered with Elizabeth Cheever to co-author this book. They feel very privileged to have been the ones to bring this story to the world.
