Why do bad things happen? Is there a purpose when we face a bad trial? As mortals, we can be compared to ore, such as gold and silver. Ore that is unrefined is generally impure and undesirable. Only ore that is crushed -- and then refined by fire -- becomes beautiful, pure, precious and valuable. This book was written to help you see the results of the Ultimate Refiner, the Lord, in your own life.
Within these pages, people from all walks of life share their stories of triumph over tragedy. More importantly, they reveal how they were strengthened as they passed through the Refiner's fire. They became more precious, and so can you. Look for the experiences of vocalist Merrill Osmond, LDS writers Shirley Bahlmann, Elizabeth Cheever, Willard Boyd Gardner, Tristi Pinkston, and Candace E. Salima, renowned columnist Muriel Sluyter and several people across the nation who are ranchers, housewives, writers in the national market and more.
Candace E. Salima partnered with Elizabeth Cheever to co-author this book. They feel very privileged to have been the ones to bring this story to the world.

They are smarter than we are.
All you have to teach them are the big truths.
1. They have a Father in Heaven that loves them more than anything.
2. They are his children.
3. Jesus is the older bother their savor and loves them.
And the best part is they already know these things for the most part.
Adults and teens mess up because we wonder about things that don't matter and forget the big truths. If we just remember, and believe those things then acted on them then everything else would fall in place. I don't know where Kolob is and I don't care. I will learn that when am done learning everything that is really important.
So I really miss playing with Legos, eating Goldfish, and learning the Gospel form three year olds.
How is that for deep?
For some reason I was made first counselor in the Elder Quorum when I had only been a member for five months. Yep I went to the Priesthood Leadership meeting before I went to the new Member Meeting.
It was kind of fun because we had our Local General Authority for that conference. He went out of his way to meet the new members and he asked each of us if we had a calling. I am pretty sure that he thought I was nuts when I told him mine.
For some reason they started making new members go to the first two new member calles for some reason. The rest of the EQ really went out of their way to "greet" me as a new member :) We had Mission president attend that one. He couldn't understand why people would greet me as a new member and then start laughing at me.
I learned early that there is only one place out side the temple that the spirit is stronger than in primary.
Nursery.
He told us he would love to have an "important calling" like Sunday School President or First Counselor in the Bishopric.
Stan and I just shook our heads.
